The short answer
A full asphalt shingle roof replacement averages $500 per square in Greater St. Louis with us, based on our own jobs. A roofing "square" is 100 square feet of roof surface, so a 25-square roof works out to roughly $12,500 before any decking repairs. Repairs are priced after a free inspection, based on what is damaged.
What changes the price
Roof size in squares, pitch (steeper roofs take more labor and safety equipment), how many layers come off, how much decking needs replacing once the old shingles are off, the number of vents, chimneys and skylights, and the shingle line you choose.
Repair or replace?
Limited damage on a roof with years left is usually a repair. Widespread damage, repeated leaks or a roof near the end of its life usually means replacement. See our guide on repairing versus replacing a roof.
